SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, which is used to validate if an email message is sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will stop the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this feature for a domain name creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP of the servers which are permitted to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through verifies if it comes from an authorized server. When it does, it is sent to the destination address, but if it does not originate from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will mask an email address then make it appear as if you are sending spam. This technique is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to enable it is to choose one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and to enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be approved to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain only when it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This feature gives you the top level of safety, but it's not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are taken care of somewhere else. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function comes with all the Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you can use this particular service easily for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a quite intuitive interface, so you will not need to be tech-savvy to secure your e-mails. You will only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send emails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you have chosen. As a further option, we will also give you the ability to restrict the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even better by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain involved features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of on our end and not by a different supplier. In this way you'll get even superior control and there will not be any chance for somebody to forge your email addresses for harmful uses.
